Dear Mr. Syed Shahabuddin,
One of the objectives for which AIMMM was constituted was to coordinate the efforts of various Muslim organizations and forums so that they could effectively use their votes for better representation of the community and also for making political parties seeking Muslim support agree on the legitimate Muslim demands.

For this purpose I sent to you a Note on behalf of the Minorities Council, providing the guidelines for coordination and the issues that need to be raised.
Now that you have joined one political party, without any consultation within AIMMM, the body will not be in a position to advise voters for such effective use of their votes. As a Congressman your party will like you to canvass support only for its own candidates and for its allies, of which there are no signs in U.P.

As a citizen and political careerist you have the right to independently pursue your own personal political ambitions, but as one who during the last one decade has mobilized the opinion and sought support from various community forums and individuals including me to selflessly pursue an agenda for redressal of genuine demands of the beleaguered Muslim minority which has been subjected to periodic massacres and which has been denied right to equality, dignity and justice, your move, which does not enjoy the support of the AIMMM or of the MOEMIN, amounts to betrayal of the cause.

I am writing this in anguish as one who extended wholehearted support to your and Mr. Saiyid Hamid's efforts aimed at Muslim empowerment beginning with Muslim Parliamentarian Meet.

I wish you a successful political career in the party of your choice which has had an illustrious record of co-opting Muslim leaders/intellectuals, without conceding any genuine Muslim demands.
