Al Qur'an Institute
Al Qur'an Institute was set up in May 2003 at Lucknow for propagating the message of Qur'an, especially among the new generation. Within a short period of time the Institute has emerged as an important institution in the city of the nawabs. Here are some of its recent activities:
-
Al Qur'an Institute arranges free teaching of Qur'an to children as well as adults in its own premises and also in a mosque in Saboli village. A large number of adults are taking keen interest in learning and reading of Qur'an.
-
Separate gatherings for men and women are organised in different localities of the city where Hadith and excerpts from Qur'an are explained to people. Discussions on religious and current topics are also held. A monthly gathering of women is held in the institute where activities performed during the month and future programmes are discussed.
-
Two summer classes and two refresher courses have been held to familiarise younger generations with basic principles and moral teachings of Islam. Large number of boys and girls participated and showed keen interest in these
programmes.
-
Islamic quiz competitions were organised at two places in the city. For this purpose a booklet containing 200 questions and their answers was prepared and distributed to those who sought to participate in the contest. Both boy and girl students participated in the competition and many of them secured good marks. Students securing good marks were awarded prizes.
-
A booklet titled Isteqbal-e Ramzan (Welcoming Ramadan) was prepared on the eve of Ramzan and distributed among a large number of people in order to apprise them of the importance and utility of the month of Ramzan and the advantages of fasting.
-
In view of the growing interest of non-Muslims in Islam, a booklet, Islam: Ek Parichai (An Introduction to Islam) has been prepared to present a true image of Islam and to remove misunderstandings about it.
-
The Institute arranged a mobile library containing books on Islam, VCR, audio and video cassettes in order to popularise the message of Islam through these media in urban and rural areas.
-
Large signboards have been installed at four different places in the city. On these hoardings selected and brief massages of Qur'an and Hadith, which are of relevance in day-to-day life of a person, are written.
-
The Institute has prepared a databank of 500 professionals as doctors, lawyers and other professionals. Literature about Qur'an and Islam is proposed to be sent to them by post.
