Population-wise representation of Muslims in cabinet demanded
New Delhi: Distinguished leader and president of All India Talimi wa Milli Foundation, Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi, congratulating the United Progressive Alliance for creating the secular front said that Muslims voted against NDA and it be would be in the fitness of things that they were not made victims of deprivation, disappointment and prejudice in any field. He said that the United Progressive Alliance, and particularly Congress, becomes responsible to see to it that Muslims were given representation in the cabinet in accordance with their population. Maulana Qasmi said that Muslims should be convinced that they were not being given hollow promises but would share power as well.
He said that the roots of democracy in India were very deep and strong. Inspite of the propaganda blitzkrieg and tall promises of BJP, secular-minded people silently voted the secular front to power. The maturity and farsightedness of Muslims played an important role. Whether it was Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat or Bihar, Muslim voters turned the tide. At many places, however, secular candidates were defeated with small margins. He hinted that many people who won the election on Congress and RJD tickets as well as some Rajya Sabha members were fully capable of handling ministerial responsibilities.
