Star for Muslims, Saraswati for Hindus

Vadodra: SJ Dave High School is located in Shehra town, 25 kilometres away from Godhra. The School’s Hindu and Muslim students wear separate badges — Hindu students have goddess Saraswati on their badges while Muslim pupils stars on theirs. The students have been wearing separate badges for the last six years. But two of the school’s trustees recently objected to this practice.

The school principal V D Patel said that the idea behind wearing separate badges was not to divide students communally rather it was not to hurt the students’ religious feelings by asking them to wear a symbol of a particular community.

Distirict Education Officer, Vadodra, VD Shah has said that he would issue a notice to school asking to stop the practice.
