Demand of imposition of President's rule in Gujarat
Allahabad: The latest verdict of the Supreme Court pertaining to more than 4000 criminal cases of Gujarat riots 2002 was the main focus of discussion at a meeting held here at the residence of Manzarul Islam, a senior advocate. Intellectuals and advocates of Allahabad high court participated in the meeting.
The speakers were unanimous in their view for the dismissal of Gujarat government for its involvement in the riots. Mr. Manzarul Islam said that the judgments, orders and decrees of the Supreme Court are binding upon the entire judiciary as well as states.
He pointed out that the benefits of the judgment now could be extended to cases which have not even been appealed before the apex court.
The participants demanded immediate removal of the Gujarat government and imposition of President's rule in Gujarat and launching of criminal prosecution against political leadership in the state.
