Karnataka sets up control room to check communal strife
Banglore: The state unit of the Congress has set up a control room to monitor communal riots and to prevent communal clashes in the state. The state Congress committee president , B. Janardhan Poojary said on November 14 while addressing the 115th birth anniversary celebration of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at Congress Bhavan here that the control room would gather information about utterances and provocative acts and incidents of vandalism or disturbances in temples, churches and mosques and bring them to the notice of state government so that preventive measures could be taken to avoid communal clashes.
The party workers would be asked to report incidents of communal nature to the police and in the case of inadequate response, the information could be passed on to the control room. The control room has been set up and its phone no. is 56973544, Poojary said.
