Ambani group's IT institute soon in J&K
Srinagar: Reliance Industries Ltd. is going to set up a state-of-the-art Information Technology Institute in Kashmir at the request of the Kashmir government. The Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology will be the second such institute after the one at Gandhinagar. It will admit 400 students for its four-year post-graduate course B. Tech course in IT (MS-IT) and post-graduate course in IT with a special focus on Tourism and Agriculture (MS-IT/Tourism, Agriculture). In the beginning, the institute will admit 60 students in its B. Tech (ICT) course, 60 students in its MS (IT-Tourism/ Agriculture). The institute will also have special skill enhancement programmes for graduates, who will be trained to run BPO and other IT-related businesses.
The state government is to lease 50 acres of land for the institute. The Reliance team has chosen a plot at Ompora, adjacent to Srinagar airport on the outskirts of the city for the institute.
