PIC calls on Patil

New Delhi: A delegation of People's Integration Council (PIC), under the leadership of Mr. Arjun Singh, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, met Mr Shivraj Patil, Union Home Minister, and requested him to immediately reconstitute the defunct National Integration Council (NIC) which has not met for the last 12 years. The delegation also submitted an aid memoir of recommendations to be taken care of while constituting the NIC.

Members of the delegation included Mr. Harsh Mander (social activist), Mr Moosa Raza (Chairman, South India Education Trust), Mr. Udit Raj (President, Indian Justice Party), Mrs Amarjeet Kaur (Secretary, AITUC), Mr. John Dayal (Secretary General, All India Christian Council), Ms Shabnam Hashmi (social activist) and Mr Navaid Hamid (Secretary, People’s Integration Council & MOEMIN).

The delegation also demanded the immediate repealing of POTA, package for the rehabilitation of the Gujarat victims and activation of the National Foundation for Communal Harmony.

The Home minister received the delegation with warmth and assured the members of PIC that the National Integration Council is going to be reconstituted soon and the recommendations of the PIC would be taken into consideration.
