Kolkata Muslims demand more representation in Army
New Delhi: Muslims in Kolkata have demanded defence minister Pranab Mukherjee more representation in defence services. In a reception given to Mukherjee by the Muslim Council of Bengal on June 22 in Calcutta the council’s convernor Ahmed Hussain Imran said that Muslims did not get employment opportunities in proportion of their population and their representation in defence forces was appallingly low. Referring to Mukherjee’s parliamentary constituency Jangipur, Imran said that jang means war and the youth of Jangipur are willing to go war to protect the borders of the motherland.
