Armaan triumphs in Manila
New Delhi: Fifteen-year old Armaan Ebrahim from Chennai announced his arrival on the motorsport scene with a bang, winning the second round of the Rotax Max Asian Kart Open Championship in Manila, Philippines, on June 28.
The Chennai-based driver braved difficult conditions to come through two heats and a gruelling pre-final before asserting himself in the tough final to stand atop the podium at the famous Carmona circuit."
Armaan made a brilliant move in the first heat where he went flat out at 130 kmph at the first corner before going on to slipstream the race leader and then maintained his first position through the 15-lap event. He led from start to finish in the second heat but the competition began to heat up in the pre-final when the Indian was constantly banged from behind
Starting on row one in the final alongside pole sitter Shafiq Ali, Armaan drove a sensible race.
He was pushed to third place but stepped up the pace halfway through the race before proceeding to take the chequered flag.
