Famous nephrologist and former director of Department of Medicine, Maulana Azad Medical College, DR SNA RIZVI was honoured by Delhi Medical Association for his long medical services on the occasion of Doctor’s Day. Dr IP Dhalia, president of the Association presented a memento to Dr Rizvi. Honorary secretary Dr Asish Dutta presented a scroll of honour which said that so far Dr Rizvi had received 24 gold medals and 10 honorary fellowships in India and abroad. More than 500 articles of Dr Rizvi have been published and he has compiled 20 chapters for medical course books. Dr Rizvi is senior advisor at Apollo Hospital, Lion’s Hospital, New Friends Colony and Sanjivan Nursing Home. He established the first Dialysis Centre at Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital which is providing free medical service to patients. 

DR S MOID AHMAD, a lecturer in anesthesia in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University has been conferred Post-Doctoral Fellowship in critical care medicine by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Dr SM Ahmad has expertise in examining various aspects of critical patients, specially in breathing problems. This he did during his studies in Ganga Ram Hospital. He is the first doctor of JN Medical College to get this honour.

Noted poet MUNAWWAR RANA was conferred Mir Taqi Mir Award at a poetic function organised by India Cultural Society at Delhi’s Aiwane Ghalib on 19 June. Senior political leaders were present on the occasion.
