|IOS to hold seminar on inter-civilisational dialogue

New Delhi: Institute of Objective Studies (IOS), a south Delhi-based non-governmental research organisation involved in research on Muslim affairs, other minorities and marginalised sections of society, will hold a three-day international conference on the theme "Inter Civilisational Dialogue in a Globalising World" from April 8 to10 at FICCI Auditorium.
The objectives of the seminar are to highlight the relevance and need for understanding, dialogue and conciliation between civilizations, religious traditions and communities, examine the prospects, promise and challenges relating to inter-civilisational dialogue in the contemporary global and multicultural scenario, to explore, reinterpret and underscore the potential role of religion in harnessing people’s creative energies and in fostering a culture of peaceful coexistence and harmony at the global level as well as in the national context, to bring out the salience and relevance of India’s centuries-old composite civilisational legacy in strengthening peaceful coexistence and in promoting dialogue and reconciliation between groups and communities.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the conference. Former Malaysian deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim will be the chief guest. Many renowned scholars from India and abroad will address the conference.
