Bihar Urdu Academy’s awards 
Bihar Urdu Academy’s executive committee has selected books for awards after reviewing the books published during the past several years till 2002. The authors of following books have been selected for awards:

The Academy has prescribed 25 February 2005 as the last date for submission of applications for claiming awards for the books published between 2003 and 2004 and to get monetry assistance for publishing documents.

Majid Deobandi, a young Urdu poet, was honoured with Kaifi Azmi Award in recognition of his services to Urdu poetry and literature. The award was presented to him by Lok Sabha speaker, Somnath Chatterjee at a function when a road in Delhi’s R.K. Puram locality was named after the late poet recently.

Nazeer Fatehpuri, famous poet, writer and editor of quarterly magazine Asbaq, Pune has been honoured with All India Mir Taqi Mir Award by Bhartiya Sahitya Kala Sansad, Samastipur, Bihar for his anthology Mere Geet Akeylay rah gaye (My songs were left alone). The award was presented to him at a function held at Anand Bhavan, Samastipur on 19 March. The Sahitya Sansad had awarded him earlier also with Khwaja Ahmad Abbas Award.

Ghalib Academy, New Delhi recently organised an essay competition on the theme ‘Ghalib Kaun hai’ in which boy and girl students of BA and MA from many colleges took part. Among BA students first prize was won by Sajida Anjum of Satyawati College, second prize went to Abdulla Javed of Jamia Millia Islamia and third prize to Saboohi Hamid of Zakir Husain College. Among MA students, first prize went to Farhan Baig of Delhi University, second prize to Ruby Tabassum and third prize to Arif Ishteyaq. Prizes consisted of cheques worth Rs 1000, 750 and 500 for first, second and third prizes respectively. Four consolation prizes were also given. «
