Haj subsidy gimmick of political parties
This refers to “In education lies our salvation” MG 16-31 January 005. I have seen the above interview with Mr Akram Syed. I fully agree with his views. We Muslims are indeed the second largest majority. We have a great role to play in the progress of this country. We can see the attitude change in parents about educating their children.
The Haj subsidy is a political gimmick of every political party. The NDA had brought a rule that Haj subsidy will be given to those who give a affidavit that, 1. They are not income tax assesee, 2. It is their first Haj, 3. They have not availed subsidy earlier.
It is unfortunate that UPA government reversed this rule. I also agree that help must be given to those educational institutions that are already established and are concentrating on economically weaker sections of the community without demanding denotations or fees for the full course to be paid in advance.
I suggest the American Federation of Muslim Indians to establish a contact office —one in north and another in south. There are Muslim professionals who will offer their services free to establish such a office.
