Maulana Sayyad Nizamuddin, Ameer-e Shariat has been honoured with Senior Citizen Award by Free Thinkers Association, Patna. Patron of this Association is Uttaranchal chief minister N.D. Tiwari and Bihar University Vice Chancellor of Patna University is the president of this Association. Maulana Nizamuddin has been selected for this award in recognition of his long and active social service. The award consists of a medal, a shawl and commendation certificate.
Raees Ahmad Siddiqui, incharge of All India Radio Urdu programme has been honoured with Electronic Media (Urdu) Award for 2004 by Delhi Urdu Academy in recognition of his 21 years of distinguished services to Urdu. This is the fourth such award in this field during the 24 years of Delhi Urdu Academy. The award consists of Rs 21,000 in cash, a shield, and a Commendation Certificate.
Film actress Waheeda Rahman has been honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award. Another Lifetime Achievement Award winner is film director Shakti Samant. The awards were presented to them for their extraordinary skills in their respective fields of the mainstream cinema at the Pune International Film Festival 2005 on 16 January.

Renowned Kashmiri poet, Ghulam Nabi Firaq
