Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Academy's awards
New Delhi: On the occasion of 126th birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar, an awards distribution function was organised under the auspices of Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Academy at Ghalib Academy, Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, New Delhi on 10 December. The function was presided over by former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Dr Farooque Abdullah. It was the academy’s 16th yearly award distribution celebration.
Chief guest, Lt. Governor B.L. Joshi distributed Mohammad Ali Jahar awards to H.R. Bhardwaj, Union minister for law and justice, Syed Shahid Mehdi, former vice chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Mrs Aneesa Begum Mirza, mayor of Ahmadabad, Shahryar, Urdu poet, Rahman Nayyar, editor of the Urdu monthly ‘Bisween Sadi,’ and Jagdish Aggarwal of Lions Club International.
Dr Abdullah in his brief address said that if all the SAARC countries were united, this region can become an influential regional power. He added that a children’s is being built in Kashmir which would be named after Mohammad Ali Jauhar. The purpose is to familiarise children about his sacrifices for the country as when they will play in that park they will come to know about him.
Lt Governor B.L. Joshi in his speech expressed happiness over participating in function.
Maulana Ahmad Mustafa Siddiqui Rahi and M. Afzal, vice-chairman of Urdu Academy, Delhi also attended the function.
