Milli Gazette Online
Mumbai: Three American preachers who were conducting Bible education classes at Malvani village in Malad were assaulted and one of them allegedly kidnapped on June 12 by a mob who accused them of performing conversions. The kidnapped preacher was found a day later on June 13.
Eight American preachers had come to Mavani and they had been conducting Bible classes for adults and children since June 6.
The last day of the class, a mob of over 30 persons attacked the house in which the classes were being conducted. According to Ms Jincy George, 16, who was present at the class said the mob caught the preachers and beat them up brutally. Two of the preachers, Phillips Allen and Clover Edwards were hit and kicked by the mob and the third preacher, Richard Jenal was beaten and then whisked away in an autorickshaw. Jenal later managed to find his way to a friend’s house in Andheri. The police on June 13 arrested two persons who were part of the mob.
