Aas Mohammad Gulzar Qasmi was unanimously elected President of All India Milli Council’s UP Branch. 

Prominent Shia scholar and formerly a minister in J&K government, Molvi Iftikhar Husain Ansari has joined chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Earlier he was a member of Farooque Abdullah’s National Conference and before that a Congress man. He also joined Janta Dal earlier. 

Murad Ali, son of filmmaker and fashion designer, Muzaffar Ali, plans to make a documentary film on the sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin. He will cast new faces for this movie. Ali is also a poet, actor and an established photographer. The Indian pop singer Shibani Kashyap has used his poetry in her new album Naghmagee. In July at an event Ali plans to fuse Urdu poetry with the music of Pink Floyd. 

Dr Abdur Rahman, professor of Sociology at Mumbai University has been appointed by AMU vice chancellor Naseem Ahmad as a member of the University Court in place of Prof. Alauddin Ahmad whose membership of the Court has ended. He will be the Court member for three years. 

Amal Allana, a famous theatre personality, has been appointed by the government as Chairperson of National School of Drama. At present she heads Delhi’s theatre group DADA. She is known for promoting English theatre movement in India as well as abroad. 

Shazia Allahrakha, a student of Sophia Senior Sec. School, Ajmer, stood 63th position out of 1500 students in the RMPT exams of 2005, gaining addmission to the pretigious medical exams of Rajasthan. Shazia also qualified for the AMU medical college exams in her first attempt (Syed Afzal Ali Shah, Ajmer).
