OBITUARIES

The Milli Gazette Online

Well-known journalist Sayem Raza Naqvi, editor of Husaini Safeer, died at Amroha on 28 May. He established the Tanzeem-e Matam Amroha. He was buried in his town’s graveyard Shah Wilayat. 

Mother of Shah Mansoor Aejaz Sabri, Sajjada Nashin of world famous Dargah Kulair Sharif, died on 31 May at Kulair Sharif. She was laid to rest in the presence of thousands of people. Anjuman Taraqqi-e Urdu, UP secretary, Dr Arifuddin Sabri described her death as an irreparable loss. 

Dr Mohammad Naseem Quraishi, formerly an adviser in the Union ministry of science and technology and director of Science Centre at Pragati Maidan died in New Delhi. In addition to being a scientist he was also a religious scholar who interpreted Quranic teachings and commands in the light of science.
Mother of Kamal Farooqi, member of All India Milli Council and founder member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maimoona Khatoon died of heart attack on 6 May in Moolchand Hospital. She was laid to rest at a graveyard near Nizamuddin. 

Well-know poet and writer, Abdul Wahid Khan ‘Maael’ Malihabadi died at Lucknow on 19 June. He was 88 and is survived by his widow, three sons and five daughters. Many of his revolutionary poems have been published. He was a prolific writer and wrote approximately 200 novels including Naya Aadmi, Kaaba se Karbala Tak, Marg-e Yazeed, Adhoori Baat, an anthology Laazawaal and an unpublished work on the Seerat of Prophet (SAW). «
