Milli Gazette Online
New Delhi: Indian ambassador in Saudi Arabia, M.O.H. Farooq while speaking at a function organised by Idea Communications in his honour, said that the wide scope that exists today between India and Saudi Arabia for promoting economic, social, political and cultural cooperation was never before. Therefore both our countries should leave no stone unturned in taking our old and traditional ties and relationships to soaring heights. He said though the economic, social, political and cultural relationship between the two countries are very old and Arab traders had started coming to India even during the Middle Ages, the entire scenario has changed after the 9/11 event and Saudi Arabia has started giving great importance to its relations with India.
He said that Indian companies are investing huge amounts in Saudi Arabia in petroleum and related sectors and therefore what is needed is that Saudi companies should also invest their capital in India. In this connection he specifically mentioned information technology, communications, building and banking sectors in which Saudi’s can invest their capital.
He said that presently about 15 lakh Indians are working in Saudi Arabia who have won the hearts of people there by their hard work, devotion, sincerity and honesty. People of Saudi Arabia hold them in great regards but, he said, 90 percent of them are labourers.
