Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University organised a grand function in its Kennedy Hall on 22 April to celebrate Prophet (SAW)’s birth day. Speaking on this occasion Shaikhul Hadith of Darul Uloom (Trust), Deoband, Maulana Anzar Shah Kashmiri said that during his 23 years of Prophethood the Messenger of Islam prepared one hundred and twenty four thousand (124000) teachers and no educational institution of the world could prepare so large number of teachers in such a short period. He said that Islam and learning or knowledge are inseparable parts.
Referring to the War of Badar he said that the condition laid down by him for the freedom of war prisoners was not monetary ransom but knowledge ie spreading of knowledge and learning. He laid down the condition that literate or educated prisoners should teach those who are illiterate. This is the ransom for their freedom. He further said that prayer is an effective weapon and even non-Muslims are impressed by prayers and these affect others also.
He said that Islam put an end to all kinds of differences and discriminations. Hazrat Bilal, who was a negro, was assigned the important and respectable duty of giving the call for prayers (azaan) so that negroes also could live with honour in society.
Maulana Nazim Khairabadi while addressing the audience said that at present the world is faced with three main problems. Firstly, the lot of poor people should be improved so that they may live at a higher standard. Secondly, in order to raise the standard of weaker sections of society they should be provided with social justice thirdly women should be ensured their rights so that they also could secure their rightful place in society. He said that solution of all these three world problems is available in Qur’an and Traditions of the Prophet (SAW) and added that if we follow Qur’anic teachings and Prophet (SAW)’s traditions these problems will be solved automatically.
Presiding over this meetings of Seeratun Nabi, AMU vice chancellor Naseem Ahmad said that the Prophet (SAW) was sent in this world as the teacher of
humanity.
He said that the fountain head of all arts and sciences that are developing and thriving in the world today is the Qur’an. He regretted that Muslim Umma which is gifted with the Qur’an and Sunnat, has completely forsaken the real spirit of Qur’an and the traditions of the Prophet (SAW) in its practical life. He further said that the contribution of Muslims in all the new scientific discoveries and inventions that are taking place throughout the world is nil.
