| Babri Masjid round-up
No proofs of Babar's atrocities on Hindus
The
Milli Gazette Online
Lucknow: Mahant Dharam Das’ witness in Babri Masjid ownership case, Bishan Bahadur who is also a historian said while testifying before the 3-member bench consisting of Justice Raf’at Alam, Justice Khem Karan and Justice Bhanwar Singh that so far no historical proof of Moghul King Babar having ever committed atrocities on Hindus or done anything harmful to Hinduism has been found. In reply to Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi’s question on behalf of Jamiatul Ulama-e Hind (UP) and other Muslim parties he admitted that in any history book including Babar Nama there is no mention of any temple having been destroyed by Babar. On the contrary, he said, Babar had given his Hindu employees the same status as he had given to his Turk employees.
He said that according to Babar Nama, Mir Baqi had built Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on the orders of Babar. He said that it was written on the board in Babri Masjid that this is the place where angels descend. He clarified that angels meant gods and goddesses and therefore this was a temple where gods and goddesses used to descend. Therefore this thing was written in the Board at Babar’s orders.
In reply to another question by Siddiqi, he said that after defeating Ibrahim Lodhis’s governor at Ayodhya, Ba Yazeed, Babar’s commander Mir Baqi had captured Ayodhya. He said that Ba Yazeed was the leader of Afghan army and its capital was Ayodhya. He said it is wrong to say that Ba Yazeed was under Delhi government and said that Ba Yazeed had declared himself independent and had ruled over Ayodhya for 5 to10 years. He however could not say since what time and up to what time he ruled over Ayodhya. He admitted that the historian R.S. Sharma also has not mentioned in his book about Ram Mandir being demolished by Babar nor the emperor’s army destroyed any temple.
