| Babri Masjid round-up
Ramayen's shlokas not real
The
Milli Gazette Online
Lucknow: VHP leader, former MP and witness of Paramhans Ramchandra Das in Babri Masid ownership case, Ram Vilas Vedanti said before the special commissioner Hari Shankar Dubey that the shlokas of Valmiki’s Ramayen are wrong because in his view the direction of Janmasthan (Babri Masjid) as shown by Videshwar is wrong because now these building are not in accordance with that direction.
In reply by a question put by Zafaryab Jilani on behalf of Jamiatul Ulama and other Muslim parties he said that in 19th shloka of Valmiki’s Ramayen it is stated that Janmathan (Babri Masjid) is in the east of Videshwar but according to him Babri Masjid is towards south-west of
Videshwar.
He said that it is possible that it may have been in that direction at that time but now it is not so. He further said that Swarg Dwar is now in the form of dilapidated mosque built by Aurangzeb in the west of the temple in which only minaret now remains. He said that Yomesh Akhara in the south of Babri Masjid is of Ram’s period and that Shankar Chabootra outside Babri Masjid is also of Ram’s period. This Chabootra symbolises the time when Shankar Bhagwan had come to meet Ram. When the discrepancy about what he had said and what was in the map was pointed out to him, he admitted his mistake.
About the graveyard near Babri Masjid he said that it is the samadhi of rishis and samadhis too are sacred places. About Ram chabootra near Babri Masjid he said that there is a difference between a smadhi and Ram chabootara. Ram is sitting on Ram Chabootra and he had taken birth in the lap of mother Kaushallya ie on Ram
Chabootara. (Rashtriya Sahara [Urdu daily] March 3, 2005)
