Murshidabad relief work
Milli Gazette Online
Thanks for raising our awareness about the hunger and starvation deaths in Murshidabad. In this time and age? Unbelievable.

Just now we received three copies of "Murshidabad Starvation Deaths". A good compilation and also good editing and graphics. I have a bird's eye-view on your book. It is a good compilation of all our cases. We appreciate your endeavour in the Supreme Court and it is a fact that the case of starvation deaths in Murshidabad has been able to win the attraction of whole country and we have won the game at first round. It was possible for your timely and swift action.

An important fact is that the people in general (of all communities) are suffering and starving. Of course, Muslims being in the majority, are bearing the brunt. The apathy of the state govt. cannot be excused. Let it not get out of hand. It is a pity that political parties, charitable outfits are so smug or sluggish about it!

We congratulate Dr Zafarul Islam Khan and the Milli Gazette for their success in highlighting this awful human problem, in the Indian Supreme Court and the Indian Parliament. However it will take some time before the tug of war between the Central govt. and West Bengal state govt. is resolved. In the meantime people in the villages of Murshidabad are dying of sheer starvation. That is a matter of shame.

Congratulations to Dr. Zafarul Islam for achieving success in highlighting the plight of Murshidabad starvation death victims. Though Left stands exposed on their secular ideology, this episode makes us think on the importance of a "Media Center" of Muslim community. Now after education, the most important priority for Muslims is their own Media Center. The Milli Gazette is the only English newspaper in northern India, the "aryawart" where Muslims are suffering educationally and politically. Therefore we must come forward to
strengthen this paper. Not only this, besides establishing a common fund to help Muslims in stress, (I suppose, a "charity trust" has already been established by MG), I propose that the rich and well placed among us should come forward to establish a well developed Media Center, it may be at the premises of MG or anywhere else, which can highlight community’s issues and attract the attention of the rulers of various states and center towards the plight and needs of Muslims. Friends let us work and contribute our might towards a better status of Muslims with concrete steps/actions besides forwarding religious teachings on the net.

I read your article on Mushirabad starvation death victims in the Milli gazette and deeply moved after knowing the plight of our Muslim brothers in Mushirabad. I want to know how you are helping them and how you are carrying out the relief work their. I want to know from you if Zakat money can be sent for donations and how you will distribute the Zakat money to Muslim brothers (bcz Zakat cannot be given to

Editor: Zakat may be given to all poor but a Muslim destitute is more entitled to your charity.
I trust this finds you in best of health and spirit. As you know, I have been working on the issue of right to food for many years and we consider hunger deaths in West Bengal a complete violation of international code for right to food. Your articles on Hunger situation in Murshidabad are excellent. I work with Asian Human Rigths Commission, Hong Kong and bring out a fortnightly news alert on Hunger deaths in India. We would like to reproduce your article for our e-newsletter which goes to a very large number of people all over the world. We will acknowledge the Milli Gazette. Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of your ariticle through email so that I can put it on our e-newsletter
