| ANHAD requests PM to release
Muslims in Godhra case
The
Milli Gazette Online
New Delhi: Academicians, filmmakers, and activists from across the country in an open letter to PM Manmohan Singh under the banner of Act Now for Harmony and Democracy (ANHAD) has demanded the release of 200 innocent Muslims put behind bars on the charge of burning the train in Godhra keeping in view that "conspiracy theory" has been rendered null and void by the interim report of UC Banerjee. The 75 signatories demanded that "all those who have been put behind bars on the charges of burning the train be immediately released and suitably compensated for the torture and humiliation they have suffered.
The organisation demanded formulation of provisions so that the likes of Modi could not usurp the due process of law to pursue their divisive politics. Among the signatories included historians Zoya Hasan, Aditya Mukherjee, Ifran Habib, KM Shrimali and KN
Panikkar.
