Professor Tahir Mahmood’s autobiographical work Amid Gods and Lords : My Life with Votaries of Religion and Law has been released. Published by the Amity University Press, the 356-page book makes some startling revelations about the institutions the author has served and certain personalities connected with those institutions. Among these are the Aligarh Muslim University, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Indian Law Institute, Delhi University, National Minorities Commission, National Human Rights Commission, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Hamdard, Institute of Objective Studies and National Council for Promotion of Urdu. "My experiences with the people of religion and law have been both sweet and sour and have exposed me to a bewildering variety of human behaviour," says the author in his preface to the book, adding that "I have a strong inner urge that my experiences and memories should not be buried with me." In its twelve chapters the author has offered what he calls "an insider’s narrative of many institutions, events and issues of a worldwide interest."
