BJP not catering to Hindus: Singhal
Milli Gazette Online
Thiruvananthapuram: The working president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Ashok Singhal, on 8 Aprll came down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party for its ``failure'' to cater to Hindutva.
The VHP leader told a news conference here that the six years of BJP rule had left Hindus ``orphaned'' and without a political future. "The BJP has done nothing for the Hindus," he said.
Mr. Singhal said the BJP was adopting a secular stand and ``secular meant anti-Hindu''. On the other hand, the Jan Sangh definitely stood for Hindus.
He said that talks between the RSS and the BJP on such issues should continue though nothing had come of the talks so far.
Denying that the VHP was part of that Sangh Parivar, he said the Parishad was a separate organisation.
He said that Hindus faced injustice and discrimination. The Sankaracharya was humiliated. If this continued, there would be a rebellion.
