Paswan meets PM on issues of Dalit Muslims, Christians
Milli Gazette Online
New Delhi, Apr 19: Lok Janshakti Party leader and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to demand that Dalit Muslims and Christians be given all facilities being provided to Dalit Hindus.
"When all religious communities, whether Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christians, are availing the facilities of reservation in OBC and ST categories, there is no reason why Dalit Muslims and Christians be denied facilities given to Scheduled Caste," the LJP leader said. Paswan, who led an 11-member delegation of the All India United Muslim Morcha, handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the Dalit-Muslim reservation.
He pointed out that while initially Dalit Hindus were provided facilities given to Scheduled Castes, Sikh and neo-Buddhist communities were subsequently included in this category. Besides Paswan, the delegation included his brother Ramchandra Paswan, MP, national president of Dalit Sena, Suraj Bhan, MP and M Ejaz Ali, national president of All India United Muslim Morcha.
