Seminar on Maulana Minnatullah Rahmani

New Delhi: Abna-e Qadeem Darul Uloom, Deoband organised a seminar on Ameer-e Shari’at Maulana Minnatullah Rahmani on 19 March in the auditorium of Jamia Millia Islamia’s Faculty of Engineering on his 14th death anniversary. The seminar was convened by Maulana Ameeduz Zaman Kairanvi, officiating president of Abna-e Qadeem and presided over by Maulana Mohammad Salim Qasmi, rector of Darul Uloom (Trust).
In his inaugural speech, Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi, president of All India Muslim Personal Law Board said that Muslims in India had been passing through trials and tribulations after 1857 when the British imperialists targeted them to take revenge but it was their good luck that farsighted religious and other leaders created awakening among the Muslim community and enabled them to face difficulties. One of such leaders was Maulana Minnatullah Rahmani who was a great religious scholar, spiritual guide of the community, man of political vision and wisdom having outstanding qualities. He had the capacity and tactfulness to solve even the most complicated problems of the community with remarkable ease. Maulana Nadwi said that he was the moving spirit behind the setting up of Muslim Personal Law Board (MPLB) and described it as his great achievement.
Intellectuals and religious scholars from different parts of the country participated in the one-day seminar. Maulana Salim Qasmi in his presidential address described in detail Maulana Rahmani’s services and qualities and said that in the MPLB at times there were differences of opinion and crises but the Ameer-e Shari’at solved them with exemplary tactfulness and wisdom. Dr Abdul Haq Ansari, Ameer of Jamaat-e Islami (Hind)described him as a strange and rare combination of learning, tolerance, shrewdness and farsightedness who had the capability of finding suitable and acceptable solutions to many complicated problems.
Yusuf Hatim Mochhala, eminent legal luminary said that though Maulana Rahmani was educated in a traditional religious institution, his astonishing experience with the Maulana is that he had full understanding of the intricacies and subtleties of the Constitution. Maulana Ameeduz Zaman Kairanvi, officiating president of Abna-e Qadeem, while welcoming the guests said that the seminar was not only organised to review the different aspects of Maulana Rahmani’s character and personality but also to understand the reasons behind differences and confusion in the community and to find their solutions and to train the younger generation to play a constructive role in the development of the community. Maulana Rahmani had played an important role in uniting the community and we should learn a lesson from his life.
Vice president of Abna-e Qadeem, Maulana Abdullah Moghisi’s proposal to strive to bring about reconciliation between the two groups of Darul Uloom was welcomed by all and they agreed that unity between the two factions would strengthen the community and foil the efforts of the enemies of Islam.
Among the prominent ulama and intellectuals who took part in this seminar were Maulana Nizamuddin, Patna, Maulana Khalid Saifulla Rahmani, Hyderabad, Mufti Zafiruddin Muftahi Deoband, Maulana Mohd Afzalul Haq Jauhar Qasmi, Gorakhpur, Syed Shahabuddin, former MP and a host of others.
There were ulama and intellectuals from 17 states and 36 of them read out their research papers.
