'Govt. tries to understand Muslims'
Milli Gazette Online
This refers to ‘Government tries to understand Muslims’, (MG, 1-15 April). At least the Union government has taken initiative to form a central committee for collecting information about Muslims’ socio-economic and educational conditions. One hopes that the collection of data approximately will be nearer to accuracy and serve as guidelines for specific programmes and projects for Muslim Indians and the government will try to solve the problems faced by NGOs and other agencies. It is expected that the committee will be provided full assistance by the government to conduct investigations and its report made public within stipulated time.
Basically social, economic and educational problems are inter-linked which are major setbacks to Muslim community. The problems of Muslim community differ state to state and region to region on many issues.
It has been sad history of such committees and their reports that such steps have always been take in past on political lines and not for national interests, a government’s decision is dependent on to another government’s whim and fancies because politicisation of important national issues which are more important for the nation than the biased political ideology.
