A meeting on the occasion of 107th birth anniversary of Qazi Mohammad Adeel Abbasi was held in Lucknow on 14 March under the auspices of Sajid Ali Memorial Committee at ‘Gulfishan’ under the presidentship of the committee’s chief, Mohammad Hamid Ali. Those who spoke on the occasion were unanimous in their views that Adeel Abbasi was a man of many-sided personality and that he had devoted himself to Urdu literature and journalism as well as to the promotion of Urdu language. Head of the department of Urdu Gorakhpur University, Prof Afghanullah Khan said that he would be remembered as a great intellectual, litterateur, journalist and statesman.

Famous poet, short story writer and editor of Ishtarak, M. Kothiawi Rahi said that he was a man of people who understood their temperament. He was successful in any movement that he started for the people. Mahboob Sayeed said in his speech that Adeel Saheb started a widespread campaign for opening religious primary schools in Urdu medium which was very successful and as a result of it more than ten thousand such schools have been opened in and around Basti district, UP. He also founded UP’s Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu, an Urdu Library and study centre in Basti.

Mohammad Hamid Ali who presided over the meeting said that Adeel Saheb was fond of education since his childhood days and he always passed with excellent marks.
