Jaipur: Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad (VKP), a front organisation of the RSS for tribals organised an all India sports meet for them in January in Jaipur and the BJP government lent support to the event. Over 200 tribal boys and girls from 17 states participated in the event and mingled with each other, singing Hindutva songs for three days. Two ministers of the BJP government made their presence in the event to express their support to the VKP efforts. Hinting at Christian missionaries, Madan Dilawar, minister of social welfare, Rajasthan said that the tribals may be easily exploited by the anti-national elements. These efforts make them aware and enable to defeat such ill motives," he added. The participants came from far flung tribal pockets of states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Nagaland. B. Thausen, a 14-year-old boy from Nagaland said that he had been living in a hostel in UP run by the VKP for the last three years and after the completion of his course, he wouldl go back to his state to propound
Hindutva.
However, People’s Union for Civil Liberties says that such activities of the VKP are part of spreading hatred against the minorities. Kavita Srivastava, spokesperson PUCL said that RSS and its organs are just dividing innocent people in the name of religion. People belonging to minority communities have been attacked in remote tribal areas of Rajasthan, she added.
