Bhopal Muslims raise Rs 80 lakh from Qurbani for quake victims
Milli Gazette Online
Bhopal: Some Muslims in Bhopal handed over the proceeds from sale of the skins of animals sacrificed on Idul Azha to the Chief Minister’s Fund for the help of tsunami victims. The All-India Muslim Teohar Committee (AIMTC) had appealed to Muslims to deposit skins of slaughtered animals with its district level office-bearers. The skins were then given to the district collector who forwarded the money to the CM Relief Fund eventually to be disbursed among tsunami victims. The AIMTC chairman Dr Ausaf Shahmiri Khurram said that the idea to use the skins for the help of tsunami victims first occurred to him after he read about people who abstained from giving Christmas and New Year gifts and donated the money to the relief agencies.
