Tension over cow across border villages

Pargwal (Jammu): Tension mounted across the border villages of Pargwal sector, 45 kms from here on March 28 morning following reports of an "unnatural offence" committed against a cow. The shocking news spread like wild fire as hundreds of villagers came out on the streets demanding action against the culprits. Shopkeepers downed shutters, burnt effigies, marched on the streets and stopped vehicular movement. Animal rights activists and religious leaders in Jammu condemned the act and called for immediate inquiry into the incident.
The owner of the cow Kuldeep Raj said that when he went to milk his cow he found her bruised back legs tied with ropes. He also spotted a few drops of blood in the cow shed. Milkhi Raj, the village sarpanch claimed the area is dominated by one community and none from the community could ever dare commit such a heinous act against a cow. SDPO Akhnoor Ashok Sharma told reporters that veterinary doctors have been called to collect samples for further investigations. The village sarpanch has said that agitation will continue until the culprits were brought to book.
