Guwahati: Hundred families comprising Bodos, Adivasis and religious minorities of Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district were rehabilitated in their ancestral village at Baunai after nine years. They were rendered homeless by ethnic riots. They had been living in camps at Hakmabil, 7 km from Gossaigaon town. Sixty-five families belonged to the Bodo community, 15 Adivasis and 20 religious minorities. But 108 families still remain in the Hakmabil relief camp. This is the first official rehabilitation programme after the creation of Bodoland Territorial Area District.
