Examiners ask if Deoband linked to terror
The
Milli Gazette Online
Lucknow: Is UP education department free of communal elements? The answer is ‘no’. The RSS mindset of the department became evident when candidates sat down to take the Uttar Pradesh Madyamik Teachers’ Selection Board examination recently.
One of the questions was "Who do you think Darul Uloom, Deoband is linked with?" The four options listed were (a) terrorism (b) Khadi movement (c) Parsi movement and (d) social reform in the Parsi community. The goof up has created a furore, because Mulayam Singh government is in power in the state which claims to be a "secular" government.
Darul Uloom’s vice rector, Maulana Sufiyan Qasmi said that a letter was sent to the CM on March 16 drawing his attention to the conspiracy to defame the madrasa. The CM has been asked to take action against the guilty officials. But the CM’s office has not yet replied.
Maulana Qasmi admitted that the government may not be directly involved in the controversy, but some officials from the education department may not be ruled out.
The legal advisor to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board Zafaryab Jilani said that the present government has done nothing to remove the RSS minded officials from the education department. Mulayam Singh Yadav government has completely ignored the education sector.
Maulana Khalid Rasheed, Naib Imam of Aishbagh Idgah and member of AIMPLB demanded legal action against the culprits for hurting the sentiments of the community.
Majlis-e-Shoora of the madrasa in a meeting on March 16 decided to undertake a movement if their demand for the sacking of the Board’s chairman and its secretary was not met soon.
