Your Career queries

1. Hospital Administration

The Milli Gazette Online

Sir, I am a Naturopath and yoga specialist by Profession. I wish to study Hospital Administration, but in class 12 I did not have biology as subject. Instead I studied maths & economics and later PG in Economics with 68%. Kindly advise me how I can pursue the course with my qualification.
Vidula Dilip, Allahabad

Dear Dilip, I guess you have become a Naturopath & Yoga specialist after taking up an advanced course apart from your regular education in Economics. Well, to study Hospital Administration, one needs to be a graduate ( any stream- which you possess), good communication & leadership skills. Also, since you are a Naturopath & yoga specialist you can have an extra edge over other candidates in terms of better employment opportunities. You can well go ahead & pursue your studies by taking up Masters in Hospital Management course - regular or through distance mode offered by many universities, hospitals all over India. Most of the colleges begin their admission process in Sept/October. For the list of colleges kindly refer MG, November 15-30, 2004 issue.

2. Library sciences after 10th Std.
Dear Sir, I need the details of the certificate course in Library Sciences after 10th Std. Please let me know which university is conducting and how to get the application form. Waiting for your reply.
Asif Iqbal asif_sha2000@rediffmail.com

Dear Asif, after 10th std you can take up one year certificate course in Library Assistant from the National Institute of Open schooling, (NIOS) New Delhi through distance mode. There are several other universities but I would recommend you to take up Diploma in Library Sciences - 2 years which is offered by most of the Government Polytechnics all over India. This is more practical & later you can complete your graduation (BA or B.Lib) & take up Masters in Library Sciences (M.Lib Sc). This would be the correct path to scale a career in Library Sciences. For more details of correspondence course log on to www.nios.org . Please visit a Govt. Polytechnic to know about Diploma in Library Sciences. You can refer MG, November 1-15, 2004 issue.
