1,37,000, Indians to perform Haj this year

Dubai: Union minister of state for external affairs, E. Ahamed said in Jeddah on May 18 that this year a total number of 1,37,000 Hajis from India will perform Haj. Eighty-two thousand of them will reach Saudi Arabia through the Central Haj Committee and the remaining will go through private tour operators. Talking to media, Ahamed said that last year private tour operators had arranged the Haj pilgrimage of 45,000 Indians, but this year they will bring 55,000 persons for Haj. He added that only those tour operators who are registered with the ministry of external affairs will be allowed to arrange group Haj visa.
This year approximately 37,000 Indians will be taken directly to Madina and rest of the Indians will have to land first at King Abdul Aziz International Airport at Jeddah and from there they will proceed for Makkah and Madina.
