566 still detained under POTA: Patil

New Delhi: A total of 566 people are still under detention in various states under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) 2002, Home Minister Shivraj Patil said on May 11.
As per available information on September 21, 2004 when POTA was repealed, a total of 349 cases were registered by various state governments and 1,031 people were arrested of whom 431 were on bail.
One person in Jharkhand and 12 in Delhi were convicted, Mr Patil told the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour. One person in Andhra Pradesh, one in Jharkhand and three in Delhi were acquitted, he said.
