he central government on 3 June appointed Ms Sehba Husain of Lucknow and currently member-secretary and executive director of BETI Foundation (Better Education through Innovation) and Prof Mrinal Miri, vice chancellor of North Eastern Hill University, Shillong as members of National Advisory Council (NAC). The reconstituted Council has now 12 members including Mrs Sonia Gandhi who is its chairperson. The reconstituted Council will have a term of one year.

Bushra Parveen, a student of Hamdard Public School at Sangam Vihar passed CBSE’s class 10th examinations this year with ‘A’ Grade in all subjects and an aggregate of 92 percent marks. She secured 95% marks in Urdu, and 98% marks in Social Studies. She is the daughter of Prof Mohammad Iqbal, acting vice chancellor of Jamia Hamdard. She has also won awards and prizes a number of times from Urdu Academy, Delhi for her brilliant writing and speaking power. 

In the BJP’s reconstituted Minority Cell Kerala’s George Kurien has been appointed general secretary and Nisar Ahmad Qureshi (Delhi), Sheikh Abdur Rahman (Andhra Pradesh), Mohammad Khan (Madhya Pradesh) and Jabeen (Assam) have been appointed vice presidents and Maulana Taj Mohammad (Rajasthan), Dr Naheed Zafar Sheikh (Maharashtra), and MM Ahmad (Karnatak) appointed secretaries. 

Danish Ahmad, a student of Old Delhi's Happy School has distinguished himself by securing 97 percent marks in Commerce and Accountancy in class 12th examination of Central Board of Secondary Education's this year He secured 91 percent marks in English, 92 percent in Economics and 95 percent in Mathematics.

Prof Shahabuddin Iraqi of Aligarh Muslim University’s Department of History has been appointed new head of the department.

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has nominated Iftikhar Gilani, Bureau Chief of Kashmir Times as Vice-Chairman of the Parliament's Press Advisory Committee (PAC). Besides Mr. Gilani, Faraz Ahmed of Deccan Chronicle, Sheikh Manzoor, editor, UNI Urdu and Mohammad Yusuf Ansari of ZEE TV have been nominated as members of the re-constituted Committee. Sheikh Manzoor Ahmed continues to represent Urdu press in the Committee. «
