| Advani incited karsevaks to demolish Babri Masjid
Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claimed before Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on 5 January that BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi had distributed spades, pickaxes and other instruments to
karsavaks and incited them to demolish the Babri Masjid. The CBI’s senior lawyer, P.K. Chaubey made this statement during discussions on the petitions filed in the court of Justice YR Tirpathi against the verdict of Rae Bareily’s special court. Chaubey added that the BJP leaders L.K. Advani, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar and others had forbidden press photographers from taking photos of
karsevaks when the mosque was being demolished, but when they persisted in their efforts, they were beaten up.
The CBI lawyer said during the discussions that on 6 December 1992 Lal Krishan Advani along with eight other accused addressed the kar sevaks to demolish the mosque from a stage near Babri Masjid. They asked the
karsevaks on loud speaker to eliminate the symbol of slavery imposed by Mughal king. He added that despite a ban on tools and implements being carried by the
karsevaks near the Babri Masjid, these people distributed spades and pickaxes among the karsevaks on 28 November 1992.
Reading out the statements of witnesses, the CBI representative said Uma Bharti told the
karsevaks from the stage to first demolish the mosque and then take away the bricks. Dhratrashtra (Advani) was seated on the same stage. He did not stop Uma Bharti and others from inciting the
karsevaks. On the contrary, he said, when the dome of the mosque fell, all the people on the stage including Advani embraced and garlanded each other and also distributed sweets.
Refering to the statements of witnesses Tiryogi Narain Mishra and Avadhesh Kumar, he said that when the
karsevaks were busy in demolishing the mosque, Ashok Singhal, Advani, Uma Bharti and Sadhvi Ritambhara shouted slogans and inciting the
karsevaks. «
