Muslims protest land encroachment in Ara

Ara, Bihar: The alleged encroachment upon the 14 bigha land of centuries old Bari Karbala, Bibi Jaan Ka hata (wakf No 123), located in the Maulabagh locality, here fraudulently by influential RJD men has caused great resentment among the Muslims of Bhojpur district. They have decided to hold a massive rally and demonstration before the collectorate here in protest against the alleged illegal encroachment and to launch a campaign to get the land freed from the encroachers. Scores of Muslims, at a meeting held inside the premises of Shahi Masjid here on late Monday evening, complained about the apathetic attitude of the state government as well as the district administration towards safety of their religious land.

The said land of Bari Karbala, Bibi jaan ka hata (old Khata No 191, old Khesara No 310, area 9 Acre 8 decimal) has allegedly been encroached and several pucca constructions have come up on the land during the last few months, much to the anguish of Muslims. Though the matter regarding title and claim is subjudice, the district administration's silence for the last several years has drawn flak from liberal circles and baffled the minorities in Bhojpur district. Speakers at the meet regretted that despite missives and complaints lodged with the district administration, no step was taken to save the land of Muslims worship from illegal encroachers as well as violators of Section 144 CrPC promulgated on the said land by the court.
