Your Career queries

The Milli Gazette Online

1. Neuroscience
Dear Sir, I did my BSc- Biotechnology in AP. I want to do MSc in Neuroscience at National Brain Research Center ( NBRC) Gurgaon. I want to know the job opportunities after doing MSc at NBRC. Is there a bright future for neuroscientist ?
Shaik Rafi

Dear Rafi, Alhamdulillah a career in Neurosciences can be as interesting and lucrative as IT. It all depends on your interest and dedication. You can log on to for the application form and the last date to apply is 31st March 2005. Well the job opportunities after your MSc at NBRC depend on how far you gain expertise in your subject. Since there are breakthroughs happening in Neurosciences, mainly led by NIMHANS, Bangalore, you can hope for good jobs. Being a Neuroscientist, you are among the elite research people and do you think there is no bright future for a neuroscientist? Certainly not.

2. Technical courses
Assalaam-o-alaikum, I have two younger brothers, both are in 12th (Commerce) and are appearing for exams this year. What courses they should go for? One of them is interested in technical work, he never concentrates in studies. He is very creative, has good knowledge in electrical work as water pumps winding and fans repairing. Is there any such kind of course he can go for? I just want your guidance.

Dear Tabassum, your brothers seem to be creative (either from childhood or just for the moment). It could also probably be their hobby to work with electrical gadgets. Its definitely a very good trait in them. Career is not always the same as our hobbies. So if you find their interest is genuine, then they can take up Diploma course in Electronics or Electrical or take up ITI.( Basic Electrical ) after their 10+12. This is the foundation for further studies in Engineering. Also certain companies like MICO, WIDIA, HP offer apprenticeship training for a duration of 2-3 years. This gives more exposure to industries. They can also take up a vocational course - Electrical Technician (House wiring, Electrical Appliances repairing, motor rewinding) offered by National Institute Open Schooling, (NIOS) New Delhi, through distance education. You can log on to for more details.
