Ibrahim Suleman Bhamla (B.A., LL.B.), who had so honestly and painstakingly served the Memon Educational and Welfare Society of Bombay for 34 years, passed away in Bombay at the age of 75 on 17 December 2004. He was also a member of the Memon Publishing Board and the Bombay Memons’ Educational Society managing committees as well as a member of their school committees for several years. He has also been, for many years, the honorary secretary and a trustee of the Bombay Market Halai Memon Jamat. He was also a trustee in the All India Memon Jamat Federation and vice president of the Muslim Ambulance Society, Bombay.
Bhamla was a senior officer in the Bombay Municipal Corporation before his retirement from public service. His services were also obtained by the Memon Co-operative Bank, Bombay as an officer in its loans department.
He was always anxious and ready to do every social work sympathetically. His zeal and enthusiasm was indeed wonderful. The Memon society has lost a very honest worker who was deeply interested in the community’s education. The Memon community has suffered an irreparable loss in his departure.
A condolence resolution was passed in a meeting of the MEW Society on 25 December 2004 which was read by the Gen. Secy. Adam Noor. Thereafter tributes were paid to late Mr. Bhamla by the society president Haji Suleman Bhiwandiwala, Vice president Dr. Nasir Fulara, Salim Agboatwala, Adam Noor and Firoz Amiwala. «
