Lifting Restriction on Entry in Ayodhya Deplorable

Opens Doors for Massive Assault on Acquired Land on 15 March

MOS (Home)’s Fraternization with VHP/Nyas Leaders Smacks of Collusion

New Delhi, 9 March, 2002: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) and Convener, Babari Masjid Movement Coordination Committee (BMMCC), has issued the following Statement:

"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) and Babari Masjid Movement Coordination Committee (BMMCC) deplore the fraternization between the MOS(Home) on his official visit to Ayodhya with leaders of the groups which are challenging the State authority and threatening to violate the status quo Order of the Supreme Court, on 15 March, 2002.

It is a reprehensible step at this critical juncture to lift the restriction on entry into Ayodhya as this will permit the VHP/Nyas to build up its strength in Ayodhya to implement its plan of a massive assault on 15 March, 2002 on the acquired land which is entirely under the status quo Order of the Supreme Court.

The AIMMM and BMMCC call upon the Government sincerely to fulfill its constitutional duty of protecting the status quo in the acquired area against any criminal trespass at any cost."
