AIMF Condemns the NEW legislation on terrorism

Lucknow, March 27, 2002: All India Muslim Forum has strongly condemned the legislation on terrorism, passed by the Parliament, through its Joint Sitting, which has transformed the most draconian and anti democratic Prevention Of Terrorism Ordinance into a permanent law.
Terming this legislation as an abject defeat of fictitious secularism at the hands of naked fascism in the country, the President of Muslim Forum, Prof. M.K. Sherwani and its U.P. President Mr Salahuddin Khan, Advocate have flayed the role of N.D.A. allies of B.J.P. in the Parliament, who under the false pretensions of secularism, gained Muslim support on the slogan of protecting minorities interests. Both the leaders have said that it is quite manifest that this whole legislation is designed to repress the minorities, especially Muslims. If its true purpose is to contain terrorism in the country, the R.S.S., V.H.P. and Bajrang Dal must be declared the terrorist organisations and their leaders booked under it. The Forum leaders have stressed that this legislation serves as yet another eye opener to those Muslim Organistions who issue appeals to Muslims to vote for those candidates who are in a position to defeat B.J.P. because all the allies of B.J.P. at the centre are certainly those who got Muslim vote in the name of defeating it.

Prof. Sherwani and Mr Salahuddin Khan have declared that Muslim Forum will launch an agitation against this legislation and as a fist step will burn its copy outside Lucknow Vidhan Sabha shortly.
