Vajpayee has Exposed Hindutva Face; BJP has Surrendered to the RSS

AIMMM Appeals to Congress, Left and Other Secular Parties to

Form Anti-Fascist Front to Save Country and Defend Democracy

New Delhi, 13 April, 2002
: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:

"The AIMMM has been shocked and saddened by the tone and content of the public speech by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee at Goa, which exposes his Hindutva face and his anti-Islamic mindset. Taken together with the rejection of Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation by the BJP National Executive and the reiteration of the Bangalore thesis of the RSS by the BJP President, there is now an unmistakable evidence of the fact that the RSS has established an unchallengeable hold on the BJP. The son has finally has surrendered to the mother!

When the BJP has shamelessly revived its Hindutva line, no political party which continues to be a part of the NDA can claim to be secular. The AIMMM, therefore, calls upon all those parties -- the TDP, the TC, the Samata Party, the JD(U) and the NC in particular, to break away from the RSS-dominated Alliance in the national interest without any further delay, whatever the consequences.

The AIMMM has noted that Prime Minister Vajpayee has in his speech at Goa adopted in toto the Modi line on Gujarat and of the RSS on vilification of Islam and Islamic institutions. The AIMMM would like to ask the Prime Minister whether as a logical sequence of his cause-effect theory he envisages an endless and expanding cycle of violence between the innocent Hindus and the innocent Muslims all over the country to the bitter end.

Chief Minister Modi has been authorised by the BJP National Executive to seek a fresh mandate on the obvious assumption of Hindu consolidation i.e. to use the dead bodies of the victims of the genocidal fury to reinforce the foundation of the RSS rule. The AIMMM, however, believes that the overwhelming majority of the people of our country - Hindus or Muslims - abhor mass violence with all its savage and brutal, genocidal dimension."

Since the Indian state has moved one step closer to Fascism and Gujarat has been chosen to be its laboratory, the AIMMM appeals the Congress, the Left and other secular parties like the Samajwadi , the Rashtriya Janata to form an Anti-Fascist Front and launch a joint struggle for the survival of the Secular State and for the defeat of the forces of Fascism in Gujarat, which would set the stage for the eventual elimination of the fascist virus from the system in the next general election."
