Joint Statement of Prominent Muslims
Joint Statement of Prominent Muslims condemning the Jammu Massacre
New Delhi, May 16, 2002:
We the undersigned strongly condemn the brutal and cowardly attack by
terrorists in Jammu on the innocent civilians and families of the
security personnel. The gruesome incident is most brutal, inhuman and
highly provocative. Targeting of innocent citizens including women and
children can not be justified under any pretext and violates all norms
of decency and morality.
We request the International community to take serious note of continued
terror tactics aimed at innocent civilians in India and make sure that
the patrons of such ghastly acts are held accountable.
We also appeal to the Government of India to ensure that justice is done
to the victims and the root cause of terrorism and violence is rooted
out.
