ALL INDIA MUSLIM FORUM

About the call of peaceful U.P. bandh in protest against the trecherous role of Muslim M.L.A.s belonging to the parties that have forged alliance with BJP in the Mayawati government

Lucknow, May 17, 2002: The volunteers of All India Muslim Forum today staged a PEACEFUL DHARNA outside Vidhan Sabha, Lucknow, in protest against the treacherous and hypocritical( Munifiqana) role of Muslim M.L.A.s belonging to the parties that have forged alliance with B.J.P. in U.P. The Dharna was presided over by Lucknow President of the Party, Mr Riyaz Ahmed Qureishi.

Addressing the Dharna, the President of All India Muslim Forum Prof. M.K. Sherwani severely criticized those Maulvis and Muslim Organizations such as All India Milli Council, All India Muslim Majlise Mushawrat and Jamate Islami Hind who emerge as the touts of different political parties just on the eve of every election and mislead the community through their devilish motives. He expressed surprise as to why the tongues of these Maulvis and Muslim bodies have got paralyzed when the elected representatives of their choice have joined hands with B.J.P. He reiterated that if the Muslim community fails to boycott, both socially and religiously, its these hypocrite (munifiqeen) M.L.A.s, it will have no justification in having complaints against others.

The U.P. President of Muslim Forum Mr Salahuddin Khan, Advocate, while stressing the significance of his Party's protest, said that while about 95 per cent Hindu majority has launched a full-fledged attack on B.J.P. for its barbarities against Muslims in Gujrat, it becomes a sacred obligation of the Muslim community also to launch a crusade against their own traitors who have aligned with the fascist forces in U.P. He emphasized that these Muslim M.L.As succeeded in getting the Muslim vote on two slogans, firstly that they are Muslims and secondly they want to defeat B.J.P. Others who addressed the Dharna included Mr Saeed Arshad Azmi, Mohd Naseem Khan, Mr Moinullah Khan, Dr Aftab Ahmed, Mr Imtiyaz Husain Warsi and Mr Intsar.

U.P. BANDH - Meanwhile , the call of U.P. Bandh given for today by All India Muslim Forum evoked a mixed reaction. In Mau, Moradabad, Aligarh, Lucknow, and other important cities most of Muslim shops and other business establishments remained closed.
