AIMMM calls for support to the Samajwadi Party and
SP-supported candidates in coming Bye-elections in UP
New Delhi, 27 May, 2002: Shri Syed Shahabuddin, President of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat
(AIMMM), has issued the following Statement:
"In view of the installation of the BSP-BJP Government in Uttar
Pradesh, the coming bye-elections in UP for one Lok Sabha and 3 Assembly seats
(Akbarpur Lok Sabha, Jahanagir Ganj, Baheri and Dibai Assembly seats) provide an occasion for the people of UP to denounce the unprincipled alliance which serves to maintain the BJP in power and expose anti-secular and anti-democratic character of the Mayawati Government.
In the circumstances, the AIMMM advises the voters to support the SP or SP-supported candidates unitedly and massively, in the bye-elections, in order to ensure the defeat of the BJP-BSP candidates."
